Where do you live, where do you train, in what category, for how long?
Dear Giuseppe, first of all, thank you very much for your interest in an interview. It’s my pleasure to talk to you and answer your questions. I live in Athens, Greece and more specifically in Petroupolis, a suburb of our capital. I have been the head coach of the women’s basketball team of Ionikos N. F for six years now, and we are playing in the first local category. I would also like to mention that a few days ago, we were crowned cup winners of all local categories, which is a great success for the club
What do you remember about the city where you lived for sport?
I vividly remember, even though I was still young, the first great success of the national basketball team, 35 years ago in the 1987 eurobasket that took place here in Athens and resulted in winning the gold medal in the final against Russia. It was a success that brought the sport of Basketball to the homes of all Greeks and led many children to team academies.
What do you follow in the Greek basketball movement (assists, defense, audience, bench), how do I work on the pitch?
My coaching philosophy is based on building the team, which starts with the defense, the distribution of roles to the athletes and of course the good atmosphere that will exist in the locker rooms.
As for the match, I want to be demanding of my players in order to get 100% of their energy during the game
The mentality of today’s player, on social media, grappling with league news, what do you think?
As for the mentality of a player, I believe that work is needed every day on and off the court, especially if we are talking about young athletes with little experience.
In closing, I would like to emphasize that the triptych, Coach, players and management can lead each team to great success. And I’m lucky to be a member of such a team
Which field do you remember with the most enthusiasm?
I still remember the FCB facility when I visited Barcelona a few years ago. I was literally speechless watching the way such a big basketball club works.
